Asteron Life Insurance

Although the Asteron name is less than a decade old, they have been providing life insurance to Australians for over 175 years. Previously known as Royal & Sun Alliance, the group changed its name to Asteron in 2003.

Asteron issued the first ever life insurance policy in Australia way back in 1833, and paid the first life insurance claim not long after.

Today Asteron is part of the Suncorp group, which includes well known brands such as AAMI, GIO and Vero. Asteron was acquired by Suncorp in 2007.

Asteron proudly focuses specifically on life insurance, and does not provide investment or superannuation products like some other insurers. Their life insurance range includes term life insurance, TPD insurance, trauma insurance and income protection.

A unique feature of Asteron is their loyalty program, which rewards customers who keep their policies for a certain number of years. Additional benefits are provided to customers who have held their policies for two years and four years.

Asteron was awarded the AFA / Plan for Life ‘Life Company of the Year’ in 2008.
